The companies competing with Meta for Facebook advertising budgets are Google (Alphabet), Amazon, TikTok (ByteDance), Microsoft, Snap, Pinterest, Reddit and Apple. Each sells ads to the same businesses, but they reach people at different moments: when they search, shop, watch short video, browse ideas or look for apps.
By size, Google is the only company that sells more advertising than Meta. In 2025, Alphabet reported $294.7 billion in Google advertising revenue against Meta's $196.2 billion. Amazon is a distant third at $68.6 billion. The rest of this guide covers each competitor, what it is good for, and how to test one next to your Meta campaigns.

Companies competing with Meta in Facebook advertising
Meta's own 2025 annual report describes its advertising competitors broadly, as companies "that sell advertising to businesses looking to reach consumers." The only rival it names is TikTok, in a risk factor about user engagement. The table below fills in the names, with figures from each company's own filing where one exists.

| Company | Main ad products | 2025 advertising revenue | Where people see the ads |
|---|---|---|---|
| Meta | Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, WhatsApp ads | $196.2B | Social feeds, Stories, Reels |
| Search, YouTube, Google Network, Performance Max | $294.7B | Search results, YouTube, partner sites | |
| Amazon | Sponsored Products, Sponsored Brands, Amazon DSP | $68.6B | Amazon store and Amazon-owned sites |
| TikTok | In-Feed ads, Spark Ads, TikTok Shop ads | Not disclosed (ByteDance is private) | For You feed |
| Microsoft | Microsoft Advertising (Bing, Copilot), LinkedIn | $15.2B search ads (fiscal year to June 2026) | Bing, Copilot, Edge, LinkedIn feed |
| Snap | Snap Ads | $5.19B | Snapchat app |
| Pinterest ads | $4.22B total revenue, almost all ads | Pinterest feed and search | |
| Promoted posts, conversation ads | $2.06B | Reddit feeds and communities | |
| Apple | Apple Ads (App Store) | Not disclosed | App Store search results, Today tab |

Revenue tells you where budgets already go, not which channel will work for you. A small platform can still be the cheapest place to reach a specific audience.
How big is Meta's advertising business?
Meta reported $196.2 billion in advertising revenue for 2025, up from $160.6 billion in 2024, out of $201.0 billion in total revenue. Advertising is almost the whole business.
Its reach is the main reason advertisers start there. Meta reported 3.58 billion daily active people across its apps on average in December 2025, and 3.64 billion in September 2026. Growth has continued in 2026: advertising revenue was $63.1 billion in the third quarter, against $50.1 billion a year earlier (Meta Q3 2026 10-Q).
Google: the largest Facebook advertising competitor
Alphabet's Google advertising revenue was $294.7 billion in 2025. It splits into three parts:
- Google Search & other: $224.5 billion
- YouTube ads: $40.4 billion
- Google Network (ads on partner sites and apps): $29.8 billion
Google and Meta are usually used for different jobs. Google Search catches demand that already exists: someone types what they want. Meta creates demand by showing ads to people who were not looking yet. Most advertisers who can afford both run both. Our Google Ads vs Facebook Ads comparison covers when each one fits, and our guide to what Google Ads costs covers CPCs and budgets.
YouTube is the closest Google product to Meta's video placements. Alphabet said YouTube revenue across ads and subscriptions passed $60 billion in 2025 (Alphabet Q4 2025 release).
Amazon: retail media with purchase data
Amazon's advertising services revenue was $68.6 billion in 2025, up from $56.2 billion in 2024, and $19.6 billion in the third quarter of 2026 (Amazon Q3 2026 10-Q).
Amazon's ads sit where people already buy. Sponsored Products show inside Amazon search results and product pages, so the ad and the checkout are one click apart. For brands that sell on Amazon, it often competes with Meta for the same ecommerce budget. For brands that do not, it matters less.
TikTok: the competitor Meta names
TikTok is the one rival Meta names in its 10-K, as a product that has "reduced some users' engagement" with Meta's apps. ByteDance, TikTok's parent, is private and does not publish its accounts, so there is no official advertising revenue figure.
The best public reference is reporting, not a filing. Reuters reported in August 2025, citing people familiar with the matter, that ByteDance's revenue in the first quarter of 2025 was above $43 billion, topping Meta's $42.3 billion for that period (Reuters via Arab News). That figure covers all of ByteDance, including Douyin in China and non-advertising revenue, so it is not a like-for-like ad comparison.
For advertisers, TikTok is closest to Meta's Reels placements: vertical, sound-on, short video in an algorithmic feed. Our Facebook Ads vs TikTok Ads guide compares costs, targeting and creative.
Microsoft and LinkedIn
Microsoft runs two ad businesses that compete with Meta in different ways.
- Microsoft Advertising (Bing, Copilot, Edge, Microsoft News) earned $15.2 billion in search advertising revenue in the fiscal year to June 2026, up 9%. It competes more with Google Search than with Meta.
- LinkedIn earned $19.8 billion in total revenue in the same year, up 11%. Marketing Solutions (ads) is one of its four business lines, but Microsoft does not report its ad revenue separately. For B2B advertisers, LinkedIn is often the main alternative to Meta because it targets by job title, company and industry.
Snap, Pinterest and Reddit
These three are smaller, and all three depend on advertising.
- Snap reported $5.93 billion in 2025 revenue, of which $5.19 billion was advertising. Snapchat's full-screen vertical ads are the closest match to Meta's Stories and Reels placements.
- Pinterest reported $4.22 billion in 2025 revenue, up 16%, and says it generates "substantially all" of its revenue from advertising. People use Pinterest to plan purchases, which suits home, fashion, food and wedding brands.
- Reddit reported $2.20 billion in 2025 revenue, up 69%, with $2.06 billion from advertising. Reddit is organised by community, so reaching people by interest is its main strength.
Apple Ads
Apple Ads sells placements inside the App Store: at the top of search results, on the Today tab, in the Search tab and on product pages. It only advertises apps, so it competes with Meta for app-install budgets rather than for ecommerce or lead-generation spend. Apple does not report Apple Ads revenue separately.
Which Facebook advertising competitor should you test first?
It depends on what you sell and how people look for it. A rough guide:
- People search for your product by name or category: Google Search, then Microsoft Advertising.
- You sell on Amazon: Amazon Sponsored Products.
- Your Meta Reels ads already work: TikTok, then YouTube Shorts and Snapchat.
- You sell to businesses: LinkedIn.
- You sell something people plan or browse for (home, fashion, food): Pinterest.
- You sell to a niche community: Reddit.
- You sell an iOS app: Apple Ads.

How to test a second ad channel next to Meta

- Pick one channel. Choose the one that matches how your buyers behave (see the list above). Testing several at once splits a small budget too thin to learn anything.
- Set a fixed test budget and window. Decide the spend and the number of weeks before you start, and the result that would count as a win, such as cost per purchase within a set margin of Meta's.
- Launch with your proven creative. Start from ads that already work on Meta, resized for the new placement. Vertical video made for Reels usually transfers to TikTok, Snapchat and YouTube Shorts with small edits.
- Compare on the same metric. Judge both channels on the same conversion event and attribution window. Platform-reported results are not directly comparable, so check against your own store or CRM data where you can.
Frequently asked questions
Who are Facebook's biggest advertising competitors?
Google is the largest, with $294.7 billion in 2025 advertising revenue against Meta's $196.2 billion. Amazon is next at $68.6 billion. TikTok is a major competitor for attention and ad spend, but its parent company does not publish advertising revenue.
Is Google bigger than Meta in advertising?
Yes. Alphabet's Google advertising revenue was $294.7 billion in 2025, about 1.5 times Meta's $196.2 billion. Most of Google's ad revenue ($224.5 billion) comes from Search.
Is TikTok bigger than Facebook for advertising?
There is no official answer, because ByteDance is private. Reuters reported that ByteDance's total revenue overtook Meta's in the first quarter of 2025, but that number includes Douyin in China and non-advertising income.
What companies compete with Meta for small business advertising?
Google (Search and Performance Max), Microsoft Advertising, Amazon for sellers on its store, TikTok, Pinterest, Snap and Reddit all offer self-serve ad tools, so small businesses can test them alongside Meta.
Are there alternatives to Facebook advertising for B2B?
LinkedIn is the usual B2B alternative because it can target by job title, company size and industry. Google Search also works well for B2B when buyers search for the problem you solve.
Does Meta list its competitors?
Not by name for advertising. Meta's 2025 10-K describes them as companies that sell advertising to businesses or build ad-management tools. The only competitor it names is TikTok.
Run Meta and the next channel from one place
Testing a second channel means rebuilding your ads in a new interface, with new naming, UTMs and specs. That is the slow part.
AdManage lets performance teams bulk-launch ads to Meta, TikTok, Snapchat, Pinterest, Google, LinkedIn and Reddit from one spreadsheet or folder, with naming conventions and UTMs applied for you. Read how teams bulk-launch TikTok ads, or start a free trial.
