Original pixel dimensions + chosen output format → a newly encoded image fileHow to use this image converter
- Choose a still JPEG, PNG or WebP, or try the built-in sample. Files can be up to 20 MiB and 12 megapixels.
- Choose JPG, PNG or WebP. Adjust quality for JPEG and WebP; transparent areas become white when exporting JPEG.
- Convert, compare the actual file size and preview, then download the new image.
Worked example
A 1200 × 628 transparent PNG can become a 1200 × 628 JPEG for a destination that needs JPG. The image keeps its dimensions, but transparent areas are filled white and the picture is encoded at your chosen JPEG quality. Choosing PNG instead preserves existing transparency; it cannot remove an opaque background or rebuild transparency that was already lost.
Convert PNG, JPG and WebP without renaming tricks
This tool decodes the selected image and encodes a new file in your chosen format. It checks the actual image header rather than relying only on the filename. PNG-to-JPG, JPG-to-PNG, WebP-to-PNG, WebP-to-JPG and JPG/PNG-to-WebP conversions are all available in the same workspace. The download uses the returned format and an appropriate extension.
Choose the format for the destination
JPEG is useful for photographs and broad compatibility, with a quality control that trades detail for bytes. PNG preserves transparency and uses lossless image encoding, but can produce a much larger file. WebP supports transparency with lossy colour compression in this tool. Converting a JPEG to PNG does not restore missing detail or make an already compressed photo better.
Keep the image size and inspect the actual export
Conversion keeps the decoded pixel dimensions, including the orientation applied by the browser. It does not crop or upscale the picture. File sizes are measured after encoding; changing format does not guarantee a smaller result. Use the separate resizer for dimensions and framing, or the compressor for a file-size goal. The source file remains unchanged and processing stays in your browser.

Common questions
Can I convert WebP to PNG or JPG?
Yes. Upload a still WebP, choose PNG or JPG, convert and download. PNG preserves existing transparency; JPG places transparent pixels on a white background.
Does JPG to PNG improve quality or remove a background?
No. PNG can preserve the pixels it receives, but conversion cannot restore detail lost to JPEG or remove an existing opaque background. It does not create transparency where none existed.
Are images uploaded and is metadata preserved?
Images are decoded and re-encoded locally in your browser. Original EXIF and other metadata are not copied. Colour profiles and encoded pixel values may change, so review colour-sensitive output before delivery.
Which image files and limits are supported?
Still JPEG, PNG and WebP up to 20 MiB, 12 megapixels and 6000 pixels per side. Animated images, SVG, GIF, HEIC, RAW and PDF are not supported. Available export formats also depend on browser support.
