Free image resizer

Resize a real image file for your next creative. Set a proportional width or height, or choose a common frame with padding or a center crop. Your image stays in your browser.

Resize an image

One still JPEG, PNG or WebP, up to 20 MiB, 12 megapixels and 6,000 pixels per side. Processed in your browser and never uploaded.

Presets are common canvas shapes, not a guarantee of platform acceptance. Proportional resizing rounds to whole pixels; enlarging cannot recover missing detail. JPEG flattens transparency onto white. Animated formats are rejected. Original metadata is not copied into the new export, and the original file stays unchanged.

Proportional height = original height × target width ÷ original width

How to use this image resizer

  1. Choose one still JPEG, PNG or WebP within the displayed file and pixel limits.
  2. Set a proportional pixel size, or select a frame and choose fit with padding or fill with a center crop.
  3. Choose PNG, JPEG or WebP, resize, inspect the preview and download the exported file.

Worked example

An illustrative 1920 × 1080 image resized proportionally to 1280 pixels wide becomes 1280 × 720. Fitting it inside a 1080 × 1080 square keeps the entire composition with padding. Filling that square with a center crop removes content at the sides. These are different visual decisions, so the tool makes the choice explicit.

Resize pixels without stretching the composition

Custom proportional mode changes one dimension and calculates the other, rounded to a whole pixel. The source aspect ratio stays as close as integer dimensions allow. A larger pixel count does not restore missing detail. Use the aspect ratio calculator when you only need dimensions rather than a new file.

Fit a social frame or choose a center crop

The square, portrait, vertical and landscape presets describe common canvas shapes. Fit preserves the entire image and adds padding. Fill covers the canvas and crops from the center; it does not find faces or reposition your subject. Inspect logos, offer text and edges before using the export. A preset is not a platform-approval check.

Choose an export format deliberately

PNG and WebP can retain transparent padding, while JPEG uses a white background. JPEG and WebP quality settings trade detail for encoded size; PNG does not use that quality slider. All exports are newly rendered files, and the original metadata is not copied. Colour and encoder behavior can vary by browser.

Common questions

Does this tool upload my image?

No image upload is needed. The file is decoded and rendered locally in your browser, and the download is created from that local output. There is no account or image-processing API request in this tool.

Which images can I resize?

Choose one still JPEG, PNG or WebP up to 20 MiB, 12 megapixels and 6,000 pixels on either side. Outputs have the same pixel limits. Animated PNG/WebP, GIF, SVG, HEIC and video are not supported. Files are checked before decoding and invalid files show an error.

Can I resize without cropping?

Yes. Custom proportional sizing preserves the frame shape. With a fixed preset, select fit with padding to keep the complete composition. Center crop is a separate option that intentionally removes content outside the frame.

Will resizing reduce file size?

Reducing pixel dimensions often helps, but encoded size also depends on format, content and quality. The tool reports the actual exported bytes and tells you if the result is not smaller. Use the image compressor for a size-focused re-encode at unchanged dimensions.
