How to Make Sure You Have the Right Facebook Page & Advertiser Access

Learn how to check Facebook Page & Ad Account access for ads.

When running Meta ads, one of the biggest stumbling blocks is access. If you don’t have the correct permissions on a Facebook Page or Ad Account (advertiser), you’ll run into frustrating errors when launching campaigns, replying to comments, or analyzing performance.
To avoid these issues, you need to complete two stages of access setup:

Stage 1: Make Sure You Have Access on Facebook

Meta splits access into two main areas:
  • Facebook Page access → Needed for replying to comments, posting content, and using Messenger/Instagram DMs.
  • Ad Account (advertiser) access → Needed for creating, editing, and launching ads.
👉 You need both if you’re running ads and managing engagement.

How to Check

  1. Go to Meta Business Settings.
  1. Check Pages → Is your profile listed with Facebook access with full control? (Task access isn’t enough.)
  1. Check Ad Accounts → Do you have Admin or Advertiser access? (Analyst is view-only and not sufficient.)

Stage 2: Grant AdManage Permission to Access via the API

Even if you personally have access on Facebook, AdManage.ai also needs permission to use that access when connecting through the Meta API.

How to Check

  1. In AdManage.ai, go to Settings → Authentication.
  1. Log in with the Facebook account that already has Page + Ad Account access (from Stage 1).
  1. When Meta asks which Pages/Ad Accounts to grant access to, select the correct assets.
      • If you skip this or only grant partial permissions, you won’t be able to launch ads or reply to comments inside AdManage.

Common Pitfalls

❌ Having Page/Ad Account access on Facebook but not granting AdManage permission → You’ll still hit errors.
❌ Granting AdManage permission but not actually having access yourself → Nothing will work.
✅ You must have both:
  1. Access in Facebook Business Manager.
  1. API permission granted to AdManage.ai.
